Daily fresh … social media automation

Note: This does not work with Twitter Blue accounts anymore as a change of the profile picture triggers a review of your Twitter Blue status unless your Twitter profile is part of a “Verified Organisation” (paid by the organization).

Imagine the following scenario. Your Twitter account changes its profile picture every day to reflect different themes per day, a themed profile image for special days and occasions like Christmas or pride month and anything else your business wants to support or represent … and all of this automatically.

Social media can be automated. Making the ephemeral nature of social media work in your favor.

Here are a few sample profile pictures we use for our brand on Twitter:

At different times of the day, our Twitter profile image is changed based on the weekday and weather conditions at our location. This is a basic example of keeping one aspect of our social media fresh.

Another very useful example of automation is the fact that this (and other) blog posts are promoted on our social media at recurring intervals, usually every 5-9 days unless we want to promote something else even more (or less).

We use a combination of Google Calendar, which provides very nice control over repeating events, and IFTTT to automate this aspect of our social media presence.

This is just one of many ways social media can be automated. Making the ephemeral nature of social media work in your favor, allowing you to justifiably create social content with much higher production value, and save loads of time and money while increasing your exposure.
